Hojicha is roasted green tea. Roasting gives the tea a warm brown colour and a soft, caramel-like and nutty flavour, and makes hojicha naturally lower in caffeine than matcha. Hojicha powder is finely ground hojicha, made to be used in lattes, ice cream, bakery and desserts.
Yes. Our hojicha is 100% ground roasted green tea, with no added sugar, fillers, colourants or other additives.
Both are ground green tea, but hojicha is roasted first. That makes it brown instead of green, gives it a taste of toast and caramel instead of fresh and energising, and means it naturally contains less caffeine.
